Should Britney Spears and Kevin Federline Reunite?
By Lisa Angelettie
There is some speculation that now that pop sensation Britney Spears has been accurately diagnosed with bipolar disorder and started regular visits with her children again - that she and ex-hubby Kevin Federline will reconcile. Reportedly he only broke up with her because he didn't know that her erratic behavior was due to her mental disorder and that now that he knows that and sees that she is seeking treatment -- he would consider getting back together. But bipolar disorder is not an easy mental disorder to live with in a relationship. While Britney may be seeking the proper mental health interventions -- it is not an easy rode. This is primarily because like with most disorders that require regular mediation -- once she starts to feel "better" she will quite likely not want to take the medication any longer. Especially with bipolar disorder. Because when she is suffering from the mania episodes that occur with this disorder - she probably feels high and energetic. Unfortunately, she also has poor impulse control and can be a danger to herself or her children in this state. This leads to the never-ending cycle of meds, no-meds, meds, no-meds. And this cycle creates a climate of instability for the couple and for the children especially. If Kevin Federline is strong enough to realize that this will be a life-long battle for Britney -- and wants to be a part of her "wellness" as well as being the rock for their small children - then yes, they very well could reconcile. Of course the question is - is he up for the task? Are any of us up for the task of supporting our partners during a life-long battle with a disease, disorder, etc? That is the million dollar question.
