Picking An Article Directory

One of the top questions I am asked by my article marketing clients is how they should choose the "right" article directories to submit their content to. It's really a great question, because based upon my experience, it is a complete waste of time to submit your articles to every Tom, Dick and Harry article directory . You have to be selective if you want to see maximum results. So here it is, my prescription for selecting the right article directories for high traffic and great back-link love. 1. Choose an article directory that is well-trafficked. Unless you are choosing a very small niche directory, a general article directory that you choose should have a great deal of traffic. You can get a traffic estimate of any site over at Alexa.com 2. Choose an article directory with responsive editors. You will only really know about this once you submit an article. Did the editors respond to your submission right away? Did they review and publish your article in a timely manner? Are the articles human-reviewed or did they automatically publish it? (You want your article to be reviewed, to keep spammers off the directory) 3. Are publishers syndicating articles from this directory? While a directory may receive a lot of traffic from writers looking to publish their articles, does it also get traffic from publishers looking to publish your articles in their ezines and newsletters? You will probably only get this information once you have an account with a directory, but just off hand I can tell you that directories such as submityourarticle and ezinearticles are great for article syndication.
