My Long Love For Magazines

By Lisa Angelettie

I have had a long love affair with magazines. In fact, when I was a little girl, I always dreamed of starting my own magazine. While that didn't happen, I did manage to work for a couple of magazines, and still subscribe to quite a few. Did you or do you still like any of these old favorites?

As A Kid:
As a kid I loved all things celebrity because I had big crushes on all the boys of the 80's. You know Leif Garret. Rob Lowe. So I subscribed to Teen Beat and Tiger Beat. My mom always had coffee table magazines that were special to our culture such as: Essence, Ebony, & Jet Magazine.

As A Teen:
When I became a teenager, my interest in boys and romance only blossomed. I subscribed to Modern Bride and Seventeen Magazine. I would also sneak and read a few of my mom's Cosmopolitan Magazines:)

In My Twenties:
After college, I was on a pretty limited budget and had a very active social life, so magazines were not a big part of my life but I was going through a fashion phase and would read other people's Vogue, Harper's' Bazaar, and Elle.

Now...
Then I grew up, and now I read magazines based on what phase I am going through in my life. When I was getting married it was bridal magazines. When I was pregnant I subscribed to pregnancy health magazines.

Now I read magazines that I can really relate to based on what I'm doing in my personal and business life. But I have to be particular based on time factors. So now I read: Marie Claire, Essence, Inc., People, and US Weekly. All of these magazines cover all my interests, needs, and hobbies. Easy reading and a continued love affair.
