Looking For The Gun
By Lisa Angelettie
When I was a child growing up in 1970's Philadelphia, I was definitely a "snooper". I would snoop through my parents things all the time, probably because I was an only child and there wasn't much to do. I remember going through my dad's desk. Probably looking for stamps. I was obsessed with mail order, classified ads, and those mailer ads! One day I found a box of bullets. One thing I was good at, even at a young age, was read. And I read the box. They were definitely bullets. I opened the box and saw these gold colored bullets with a sort of silver or steel colored base. I was fascinated. Now I needed to know what gun they went with. Where was the gun? I searched high and low in that office for that gun and never found it. Of course I realize now that the gun must have been much closer to my dad then the office. Probably in my parents bedroom or maybe in his car. My dad did often travel to the "seedy" parts of Philly often:) Well, I never found or saw that gun. Probably a good thing. After two weeks of contemplation, I probably would have picked it up. While I don't begrudge anyone their right to own a legally registered gun, I personally do not. I always remember my fascination with those bullets and wondering where their partner was (the gun), and I never want my children to have that same access or opportunity. There's three of them. No doubt they would split up and search the entire house from top to bottom -- and definitely find the gun! |

It might have been with Colonel Mustard in the Conservatory or with Mrs. Peacock in the Kitchen. Other than that I don't have a Clue.

LOL!
Statistics show that guns purchased by the law-abiding sometimes end up in the hands of criminals. Gun-control groups urge people to think before buying. Thanks for writing this true account.
